The liver serves many functions in your pet’s body, including aiding with digestion, producing certain hormones and removing toxins from the blood. Due to this variety of vital functions, liver disease presents itself in varying ways and the warning signs can often be vague.
Liver disease can be caused by damage to a related organ, such as the intestines or pancreas, due to bacterial infection, parasites or toxins. Treatment of the disease depends on determining its initial cause. In most cases, part of the treatment will be a diet that has been specially designed to aid liver function as well as supportive medications.
